Specifiers

Yesterday, Information Technology (IT) systems were designed and built to meet the anticipated needs of users. Today, Knowledge Management (KM) environments are designed and built to meet the unanticipated needs of users. The role of the specifier has changed to a Knowledge Manager rather than a specification writer.

The first important question to ask when selecting a new concrete protection system is - What is the required design life – 2, 5, 10 or even 50 years? And, is frequent or regular maintenance feasible? It is virtually impossible to keep any unprotected concrete structure from experiencing some degree of stress. Any specification must meet the agreed design life & the intended maintenance-free period.

Sustainablility is another key driver today. Sustainable development has been defined as "development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".

With regard to concrete protection systems, sustainability should consider the “whole product life cycle”. This includes production, application, service life and eventual disposal. Our systems are pre-engineered to offer high service lives, so sustainability is a key benefit.

EpiMax works closely with well resourced materials science lab epoxytesting.com to assist with comprehensive product development testing. This lab is equipped with state of the art test equipment including DMA & DSC units.
